Ministering to the Church
Altar servers provide an important ministry during parish liturgies. They lead processions, assist the priest/celebrant, and add dignity & reverence to the liturgy by carrying out their roles. By becoming an altar server, boys and girls learn about the Mass, and they learn about responsibility and commitment by serving when they are assigned and finding replacements when they are unable to serve. Altar servers must arrive at the church 15 minutes before the scheduled Mass time to prepare themselves and the altar for Mass. It is always a good idea for servers to check in at the sacristy at whichever Mass they attend to see if their services are needed.
Training is provided for all interested in becoming an altar server. During training, altar servers are told that this is their first ministry in the church. Altar servers learn responsibility and organization by becoming more involved in the church while instilling in them individual virtues.
